Arts in the Park
Keep your children engaged in creativity during the summer months with free art classes at recreation centers across the city. Arts in the Park is a partnership with the City of Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department where kids can engage in hands-on, interactive visual arts classes taught by professional teaching artists. Participants will have a chance to experience art through a variety of mediums such as clay, collage, painting, and more while they make new friends and enjoy their public parks.
Research shows the enormous benefits of summer art programs for children. Children engage in multi-sensory skills that enhance comprehension and can help to reduce the amount of time teachers are required to spend reteaching previous materials at the beginning of the school year. Summer art programs and camps often are structured differently than traditional school classes, allowing more space for children to express themselves while learning new concepts and developing skills that ultimately enhance learning in the classroom.
Arts in the Park offers free daily art classes as well as art camps. Registration for camps can be found at OKC Parks and Recreation.
