The Artisans rolled up their sleeves and got crafty this month! To celebrate Valentine’s Day, a group of about 20 Artisans and guests came together for the Valentine’s & Vino event to mingle, enjoy wine, eat snacks provided by Mickey Mantle’s, and create handmade valentines for WovenLife, Inc.
WovenLife offers day programs for children and adults with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities and other special needs. Programs provide therapy, training, and education to help improve the lives of those attending.
Within a couple hours of hard work—mixed with some wine-induced laughs and great company—our group created more than 80 valentines. Although design ideas were provided, our group really tapped into its creativity and came up with some beautiful designs that we were excited to share with the organization.
Members of the Arts Council Oklahoma City staff were able to deliver the cards to both the adult and children’s Valentine’s Day programs. They were even invited to judge the door decorating contest (there’s rumor the toddlers bribed the judges with donuts…)! It was great to see the reaction from all as the handmade Valentine’s cards were given and received.
We’re incredibly thankful to WovenLife for inviting us to share this wonderful holiday with them, and we were honored to spread some love in the way Artisans know best—through art!
If you’d like to join other events like this, sign up to become an Artisan! You’ll be notified about our events throughout the year. We’d love to have you!
