The Artisans, Arts Council OKC’s young professionals’ group, have been busy! Earlier in the month, they earned $1,000 for Arts Council OKC by volunteering at The Swings: An Exercise in Musical Cooperation.
“The Swings is an interactive installation that offers a fresh look at the idea of cooperation, the notion that we can achieve more together than separately. Each swing in motion triggers different notes, all the swings together compose a piece, but some sounds only emerge from cooperation. The project stimulates ownership of the public space, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds, and creating a place for playing and hanging out in the city.” -Musical Swings, presented by Tous Les Jours.
The grant was offered by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation and will go to support art experiences for the Artisans group.
To celebrate Halloween, the Artisans showcased their eerily excellent pumpkin painting and carving skills at Bill at Suzie White’s house. From eyeballs to the Big Lebowski, their was truly a little bit of everything represented. Special thanks to Bill and Suzie for lending us their beautiful home and to Mickey Mantles for catering the event and providing a tantalizing spread!
