With Festival of the Arts 2018 less than three months away, preparations have kicked into high gear!  While Festival Director Gilbert Magdaleno and this year’s event co-chairs, Molly McBride and Paul Tyler, have been hard at work since the summer, what truly marks the start of Festival season here at Arts Council Oklahoma City is our First Chairmen’s Meeting!  For this annual event, Festival Co-Chairs gather our volunteer committee members to mingle, hear event updates, and to unveil the year’s Festival art work.
This year, we welcomed over 150 volunteers to the McApline building for drinks and light appetizers provided by Aunt Pittypat’s Catering.  The big reveal for the evening was the 2018 Festival art work, Present by Joy Richardson, pictured above and right..  McBride and Tyler selected Richardson to create the 2018 Festival of the Arts art work during last year’s Festival.   Richardson is an abstract artist based in Oklahoma, and is a longtime juried Festival artist.
Make sure to mark your calendars for Festival of the Arts 2018! April 24-29 in Bicentennial Park!
