Oklahoma City, OK – Applications are now being accepted for the Festival of the Arts annual Youth Art Sale, which gives local young people the opportunity to showcase their creative works of art.
The Youth Art Sale is a one-day event allowing Oklahoma’s emerging young artists the opportunity to display and sell their artwork during Festival of the Arts. All children and teenage artists age 8 – 18 are eligible to apply. This year’s sale will be located on the east lawn of City Hall – Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 11am-5pm.
“We love seeing what talented young artists bring to the Youth Art Sale every year,” said Jill Coker, All Access Arts Director. “From jewelry to found-object sculptures, the artwork is always an impressive example of what the students in our community are learning. If you know a young artist, make sure they apply, otherwise come support the future of Oklahoma art.”
Selected artists must design and create their own artwork, all of which must be original. The process of entering the Youth Art Sale is comparable to the experience of the professional artists participating in this year’s festival.
“Not only is this a great opportunity for the next generation of artists to showcase some of their spectacular work, but it serves as a learning opportunity for those artists who will hopefully be part of the Festival of the Arts for years to come,” said Peter Dolese, Executive Director for Arts Council OKC.
Artists must personally be present at their booths during the entire event. Representatives, including family members, may NOT attend in place of the artist and all artists must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Only items as represented in submitted photographs with the application may be displayed. For example, if photos of jewelry are submitted, you may not sell sculptures that were not submitted.
Booth spaces will be 3′ x 5′ in size and artists must provide all display materials including tables, chairs, or panels, as well as cash boxes and/or credit card readers. Artists may keep all of their proceeds.
Applications are being accepted from January 18 through March 14.
