Applications are now being accepted for Arts Council Oklahoma City’s Youth Art Sale, which gives young local artists the opportunity to showcase their creative works of art.
The Youth Art Sale is a one-day event allowing Oklahoma’s emerging young artists to display and sell their artwork during the Festival of the Arts. All artists ages 8 – 18 are eligible to apply. This year’s sale will be located on the east lawn of City Hall on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
“Each year, we’re mesmerized by the talented young artists that apply for the Youth Art Sale,” said All Access Arts Director Nick Caudle. “From jewelry to sculptures to paintings, the artwork is always an impressive example of what the students in our community are learning. If you know a young artist, encourage them to apply to showcase their work at OKC’s biggest celebration of the arts.”
Selected artists must design and create their own artwork, all of which must be original. The process of entering the Youth Art Sale is comparable to the experience of the professional artists participating in this year’s festival.
“This project serves as a wonderful learning opportunity for young artists who will hopefully be part of the Festival of the Arts for years to come,” said Arts Council OKC Executive Director Angela Cozby. “We welcome all young local artists to apply and look forward to seeing the creative masterpieces from the next generation of Oklahoma artists.”
Artists must personally be present at their booths during the entire day. Representatives, including family members, may not attend in place of the artist and all artists must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Only items as represented in submitted photographs with the application may be displayed. For example, if photos of jewelry are submitted, you may not sell sculptures that were not submitted.
Booth spaces will be 3′ x 5′ in size and artists must provide all display materials including tables, chairs, or panels, as well as cash boxes and/or credit card readers. Artists may keep 100% of their proceeds.
Applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. on March 27. To apply, visit artscouncilokc.com/youthartsale.
